DID
YOU
KNOW?
Some people say that the huppah is a symbol of the special tent where the bride and groom spent their wedding night in the days of the Bible. Others say that it is a symbol of the Jewish home the couple will build together.
What Makes a Jewish Wedding Different
Two things that make a Jewish wedding different from all others are the huppah and the ketubah.

The huppah is a wedding canopy. At a Jewish wedding, the bride and groom stand under it during the ceremony. The huppah is made of fine cloth, such as silk or velvet, and is hung like a small tent from four poles. Sometimes a tallit serves as a huppah. The poles are often decorated with flowers and leaves.
