Social action can be done in almost any place at any time. The following are some helpful tips for doing social action in as little as a minute or as long as a year. Circle the ideas that interest you and add your own.

1 Minute

  • Wear a t-shirt or button that makes a statement.

  • Sign a petition.

  • Recycle your soda can.

  • Post on a listserv or blog about an issue.

  • Collect change from friends at the lunch table to donate to charitable organizations.

  • Present an issue to a school club or synagogue group (sisterhood, social action committee, or executive board).

  • Write a letter to the editor of your campus newspaper.

  • Plant a tree in an urban community.
