The Technology: Padlet
By Emily Kalver

Padlet is a free online bulletin board that you can use for bookmarking and sharing digital content, including images, links, videos, word docs, and more. It’s also a social site, and once you create your board, you can email the link to students or colleagues, and invite them to contribute their own content to the board as well. It’s a very visual and simple way to collaborate and brainstorm with others.
By default, padlet walls are semi –public: they won’t show up in a search, but anyone with the link can access and contribute to the wall. You can adjust the privacy settings to make your wall completely public or private. You can even password protect your wall. It’s also possible to change the URL from a random string of characters to something your students will remember.
Padlet works across multiple devices, including mobile phones. You can use padlet with no setup, but if you sign up for a free account you will gain access to more features. For a tutorial on how to use padlet, click here.

In Your Classroom:
- Invite your students to create a weekly Jewish values digital collage. Select a value such as generosity, and ask them to each make a pledge of how they plan to be generous that week, and post their pledge on a group padlet board. Next week, do the same for the next value.
- Create a padlet honor wall. Ask each student to choose a hero from history, like Judah Maccabee, and post a photo and short description of them to the honor wall. You can expand the wall to include teachers and Jewish leaders from your school and community as well. You can also choose to make a “Righteous Gentile” wall of honor.
