Where Do You Give?
Written by Jessica Gurtman, 17 of November, 2011Babaganewz partnered with the American Jewish World Service to create an educational program and contest for middle school students to help them think about giving during the season of receiving. Where Do You Give? Reimaginging Tzedekah for the 21st century is a campaign and contest to help students articulate their own tzedekah priorities and lets them experiment with these priorities by making real decisions about how to allocate real money.
Click here to download Got Gelt? A Conversation about Giving in this Season of Receiving. This Hanukkah themed lesson plan will help your students examine how they give tzedekah and to explore the complex and challenging factors that influence how to decide where to give. Includes a take-home guide that encourages families to continue this discussion during candle-lighting in their home.
Look for a contest coming in January that will reimagine the tzedekah box. Use your inner artist to create a new tzedekah box for the 21st century.
