Welcome the New Year in Hebrew with iTorah Blessings
Written by Behrman House Staff, 30 of August, 2012Tradition Meets Technology
Learn and practice for your aliyah right on your iPad or iPhone!
iTorah Blessings, the app from Behrman House, is designed to make anyone comfortable inside the synagogue. Developed for iPhone and iPad, iTorah Blessings teaches the blessings for being called for an aliyah. Touch-and-Read technology plays each word individually as it is touched, simplifying learning, while the auto-record feature lets anyone hear themselves practice. iTorah Blessings also includes video demonstrations that explain an aliyah step by step, show how the Torah is decorated, and even provide traditional instructions for putting on a tallit .
Behrman House has a full range of apps to help provide students and families with Jewish learning on the go. iComfort is a helpful tool for those who are in mourning (and those who visit mourners). iShabbat teaches the blessings for weekly Shabbat celebration. JAM (Jewish and Me) Matching, a cute Jewish holiday memory game, is perfect for any family with pre-schoolers. iShma Lite teaches the first two lines of the important Sh’ma prayer (and it’s free!).
We also offer apps that help anyone celebrate holidays. iHanukkah teaches the blessings for lighting a hanukkiah; Dreidel Labyrinth is a free game that is sure to become a favorite. Noisemaker Gragger is perfect for Purim—use the prerecorded sounds to boo Haman—or create your own audio. iMah Nishtanah will help the youngest members of the family get ready for their big part in the Passover seder. You can read more about all our apps here.
Stay tuned—we’re coming out with even more apps to provide Jewish learning on the go.
