URJ Press/ Behrman House Agreement is Final
Written by Behrman House Staff, 17 of June, 2015How Can I Order URJ Materials?
Behrman House, URJ Create a Path to the Future for URJ Press Educational Materials
It’s an important time, for Behrman House, for the URJ, and for the educational community. On Monday, June 15th, we completed the transfer of 222 URJ Press titles to Behrman House.
This includes the Mitkadem series, the entire Parashat Hashavuah series, the majority of the titles in the Chai curriculum, plus many other titles. A full list of the titles you can now acquire from Behrman House is here. These titles can be purchased through Behrman House by phone, fax, or on our website.
About half of the books have arrived in our warehouse; others will arrive in batches between today and next Monday. They will be available for shipment by June 24th. In addition, before the closing URJ Press also ordered reprints of materials for which stocks were running low and those titles are due in soon. We will back order any titles for which we do not yet have stock and send them as soon as they become available.
Unfortunately there are still about 175 titles for which we do not have the full rights to accept transfer and sell. We still need the proper contracts and documentation required under the U.S. Copyright Act for us to publish and sell these remaining titles. We are working with the URJ to address this as soon as possible. A list of the titles still to be cleared is here and we will continue to update it daily.
Also we are delighted to announce that as of Tuesday, June 16th, Marlene Myerson and Joan Carr joined us as official Behrman House colleagues; they will continue to provide curriculum consultation and textbook advice to the educational community, only now for the expanded Behrman House and URJ Press combined list. Marlene can be reached at marlene@behrmanhouse.com and Joan at joan@behrmanhouse.com.
We are gratified by the confidence that you, your colleagues, and the URJ place in us by allowing us the opportunity to preserve, extend, and advance these titles. Joining the URJ Press materials together with the Behrman House titles you already use in your schools and congregations, and recommend to the families you serve, we will now be able to offer you a combined resource of nearly 1,000 titles, covering any needs your school, congregation, or families might have.
