Prepare Young Children for Hebrew Learning with a Fun “Pre-Alef” Class
Create a spiritually engaging Shabbat morning service with Siddur Katan: Shabbat Prayer Book for Families with Young Children. The service is targeted to meet the interests and needs of children ages two to six with integrated prayer, song, dance, Shabbat-related activities, and story time. Parents or caregivers participate in the service alongside their children, infusing quality family time into the richness of Shabbat.
With its shortened service, full transliterations, easy-to-understand English introductions, child-friendly illustrations, and sweet songs for the whole family, Siddur Katan brings the joy of Shabbat to every family's celebration.
The optional Leader's Guide will take you step by step through the service with a full word-for-word script, suggested talking points, and set-up and trouble-shooting notes. Prayers and songs include English transliterations and summaries, lyrics, family activities, and icons noting prayer and dance choreography. The guide is intended for leaders who have various levels of experience leading Shabbat children's services. Find bonus free downloads, including Shabbat and Jewish-themed game templates and a Shabbat story reading list, on the Leader's Guide page.
You can also download the Siddur Katan Song Collection—11 original, lively, family-friendly Shabbat songs by Jaime Lewis. Participants of all ages will be singing long after Shabbat services are over!
