Create Family Memories this Hanukkah
Written by Behrman House Staff, 03 of December, 2014Stories offer bonding time with families and create opportunities to share and discuss understanding. What better way to celebrate this Hanukkah with some of our favorite Hanukkah stories and learning materials.
Share Hanukkah family fun with these two lovable storybooks:
Melly's Menorah - Melly's family is busy preparing for Hanukkah-decorating, wrapping presents, making cards, frying latkes--and no one has time for little Melly. But when the centerpiece of the holiday, the menorah, is missing, Melly comes to the rescue with a cookie dough menorah.
Too Many Latkes - This modern day fable is best read by the light of the menorah. And just like the traditional holiday dish, latkes, you can get enough of it.
Engage students to the stories and meaning behind Hanukkah with these educational titles:
Look At Me: I Can Celebrate Hanukkah - (Grades Pre-K - K) Introduce children to the key vocabulary of Hanukkah, including: menorah, latkes, blessings, and dreidel. Activities teach Hanukkah traditions while reinforcing developmental skills, such as making size comparisons, counting, and recognizing colors.
Let's Celebrate Hanukkah - (Grades 1 - 2) The Hanukkah story is colorfully and playfully presented to young children and their families in a set of seven 16-page magazines. The set includes stories, songs, and activities that add fun and meaning to the retelling of the holiday story and its rituals and values.
And help families engage their whole family with this Hanukkah guide:
Celebrating Hanukkah - A welcoming and clear introduction to Hanukkah to help families celebrate a meaningful holiday. Written for the whole family, this four-page, durable (it's water - and oil-resistant!) folder tells the story of Hanukkah, and describes popular customs and traditions. It also gives easy-to-follow instructions for setting up and lighting the Hanukkah candles.
All five of the Hanukkah titles above are available for free shipping until December 15th with the code 'Hanukkah2014'. Free shipping only qualifies for above Hanukkah titles.
Did you hear? Behrman House is currently producing a new Hanukkah book for Hanukkah 2015!
Help children learn about tzedekah in the Hanukkah season with Hanukkah Cookies with Sprinkles by David Adler, award winning author of the popular Cam Jansen series. Main character, Sara, reaches out to a neighbor in need and finds that friends can be made in unexpected places. Take a look at the sketches illustrator Jeff Ebbeler has developed for the cover and the interior pages.
