Hot Topics: How Does Jewish Tradition Define Beauty?
Written by Behrman House Staff, 13 of October, 2014
In 2006, Abercrombie & Fitch CEO shocked society by revealing their direct market - pretty people. Is this the fashion industry's ideal perception of our bodies?
From an early age our culture is taught that thin is the only body shape that looks good. How can we as educators help students understand that society's definition of beauty is ever-changing?
The latest lesson from the new Hot Topics series provides an alternative perspective on body image through Jewish values.
Hot Topics: Body Image includes an article, lesson plan, and source sheet to help students study Jewish text related to body image and beauty and recognize people they know for their internal beauty.
Each Hot Topics resource library item includes an article describing the issue, a lesson plan geared towards teens, and a source sheet that can be distributed to students to enhance discussions.
A new topic will become available every two weeks for $3.99.
