Get in the High Holidays Spirit with a Daily #BlogElul Post
Written by Behrman House Staff, 06 of August, 2013Today (August 7, 2013) is the first day of the month of Elul, a time for soul searching and repentance in preparation for the High Holy Days. What better way to search your soul than to share something about a different High Holy Day theme each day of the month?
That’s the idea behind Rabbi Phyllis Sommer’s project #BlogElul. For the month of Elul (8/7 – 9/4), she is inviting bloggers, tweeters, facebookers, instagrammers, viners, pinners, and all other social media-ers to post and share things about the following daily topics:
It's not just about blogging and writing, but this could be a great reason to start that blog you’ve been planning. You can also write a tweet, post an instagram photo, paint a picture, share an article or quote, create a Vine video, or use whatever medium inspires you and helps you express the daily topic! Just include the hashtag #BlogElul somewhere in your post so other participants and followers can find you.
Read Rabbi Sommer’s introduction to learn more about #BlogElul and how you can participate.
Behrman House will be participating by sharing our favorite #BlogElul posts on Twitter and on Facebook. We’ll also be occasionally posting our own interpretations of the daily theme on the Behrman House Blog - Vicki Weber kicks off the month with reflections about the Elul 1 theme, prepare.
For today's theme, we also have a question for all the teachers out there: What did you do this summer to prepare for the coming school year? Join the conversation on Facebook.
