Detroit Federation's Alliance Welcomes New Regional OLC Expert
Written by Behrman House Staff, 21 of May, 2014Breaking News:
The Detroit Federation’s Alliance for Jewish Education has selected master educator and Associate Director Harvey Leven to become the regional expert on how to use the Behrman House Online Learning Center (OLC).
The Alliance has always been a strong supporter—and funder—of the use of digital technologies in their member schools. It is widely regarded as a national leader in the implementation of educational technology. The decision to appoint a regional expert and trainer follows the adoption of the OLC by several Detroit schools.
Over the next several weeks, Harvey and Behrman House staff will work closely to ensure his facility and familiarity with the OLC. After that, the Alliance will invite education directors to set up appointments for themselves and their teachers—customized for each school—in which Harvey will provide hands-on sessions for using the OLC as well as best practices. Sessions are usually open to other members of the community.
A similar program has been underway for the past year at the Institute for Southern Jewish Life who adopted the OLC for their 61 member schools. Nine ISJL fellows, led by Director of Education Department Rachel Stern, provide support and training to ISJL education directors and teachers.
