Enrich your students’ exploration of Israel with articles and videos developed by professional journalists. Behrman House has teamed up with ISRAEL21c to adapt selected ISRAEL21c content for use in Jewish religious schools as a series of downloadable lesson plans for grades 4-7 focusing on modern Israel. Nine installments, a total of 45 indiviudal lessons, of the ISRAEL21c Teacher's Edition are now available in the Behrman House Resource Libraries.
Each lesson from the ISRAEL21c Teacher's Edition showcases a selection from ISRAEL21c’s extensive library of articles and videos that take visitors beyond the Middle East conflict and provides them with a window into daily life in modern Israel. These resources highlight the diversity and vibrancy of Israeli society and the creativity of its people and their contributions to the world.
The accompanying downloadable lesson plans feature goals, guiding questions, project instructions, reflection opportunities, and thought questions to encourage student identification and attachment to Israel. The individual lessons in the ISRAEL21c Teacher's Edition are perfect enrichment resources to complement Behrman House print and digital materials on Israel, including Welcome to Israel and Experience Modern Israel. They can also be used to enrich areas of the informal education curriculum, including school-wide assemblies and family education.
The ISRAEL21c Teacher's Edition is organized around seven themes: environment, social action, people, health, culture, technology, and travel. Every two weeks we bring you a new series of seven articles/videos and their accompanying lesson plans, available as Featured Resources in the Behrman House Resource Libraries.
By the end of this school year, the ISRAEL21c Teacher's Edition will include 120 lesson plans, and each one can be purchased separately.
