New format uses journaling techniques to let students investigate how Jewish teachings can guide everyday decisions.
This spring Behrman House will introduce two student journals, Jewish Holidays, Jewish Values and Our Place in the Universe, together with matching lesson plan manuals, that will help students construct their learning in new ways. 
With Jewish Holiday, Jewish Values your 4th and 6th grade students will discover how the Jewish values we learn from our holiday stories and traditions can guide them in making good descisions every day. They will be able to experience a full year of Jewish Holidays and create connections between what they believe and how they live.
Students will explore questions like:
- How can I experience holy time and space on Shabbat?
- What can I learn about courage from our Hannukkah traditions?
- How does Purim teach us aout pursuing justice?

Jewish wisdom and tradition can guide us in our relationship to the environment with Our Place in the Universe. 6th-8th grade students use checklists, personality quizzes, debate topics, and writing prompts to develope their own understanding of how the choices we make each day can be influenced by the values we hold as Jews.
Students will explore questions like:
- Do Jews have a special responsibility for taking care of the world?
- What's Jewish about how we treat natural resources like land, water, and air?
- What is my own role in using and perserving resources in the world around me?
Our Place in the Universe will be available April 2014. I'd like to know more.
Both Jewish Holidays, Jewish Values and Our Place in the Universe are supported by Lesson Plan Manuals that feature essential questions, active lesson plans, enrichment options, project based learning ideas, suggestions for families, and links to a wide variety of supplemental materials on a dedicated webpage on behrmanhouse.com.
In addition, there is a matching free companion Game Pack for each that features content-based crossword puzzels, MadLibs, personality quizzes, and other fun ways to explore and review. Game Pack activities can be printed or played online.
