Camp Connection: What Gives Us Strength to Try Something New?
Written by Behrman House Staff, 07 of July, 2015Students are getting ready to go off to summer camp where they will meet new friends, build connections to Jewish values, and try new things.
Trying new things can be hard, especially for young students. How can we help students recognize their strengths and inspire them to make some of the changes they will experience while at camp?
In this exercise adapted from the student journal Jewish Values in Genesis, students can compare the story of Abraham and Sarah and their ability to take risks with the changes students will need to make to their daily lives as they go to camp. What tasks will they become responsible for? How will they connect with new students at camp? You can download this lesson for free here.

About Jewish Values in Genesis
Through the dramatic stories of the Book of Genesis, students explore Jewish values that can guide us in our lives today. From Abraham and Sarah's faith and trust in journeying to a new land, to Rebecca's kindness at the well, to the jealousy and betrayal of Joseph by his brothers, we learn something new about ourselves and our relationships from the ups and downs of our biblical ancestors. Jewish Values in Genesis is available now.
