A Throwback with Mah Tovu
Written by Behrman House Staff, 10 of March, 2014When Rabbi Ken Chasen, Rabbi Yoshi Zweiback, and Steve Brodsky joined together to form Mah Tovu, they became the hottest Jewish musical group on the camp circuit for a number of years.
The boys in the band moved on to other areas of Jewish leadership and responsibility (Ken is now Senior Rabbi at Leo Baeck Temple, Yoshi serves as Senior Educator/Rabbi at Stephen S. Wise Temple, and Steve is with the URJ) but they never lost their love of writing and performing music.
As new fathers, they turned their talents to creating material for families with young children, working with Vicki Weber at Behrman House to produce two collections for families. Days of Wonder, Nights of Peace highlights the ways parents can infuse Jewish spirit into regular morning and evening rituals with young children. Day of Days celebrates Shabbat with songs, blessings and rituals especially with young children in mind.
These three dads are now seeing their children become b'nai mitzvah, yet their two collections continue to celebrate and enrich the Jewish lives of new families everywhere.
And with Passover just a month away, here's some Pharaoh, Pharaoh fun from Mah Tovu and some HUC students in Israel:
