What I think is great about the program is that the musicians and songleaders are charismatic and engaging and really make the melodies of the prayers come alive. I’m jealous I’m not one of them! The activities are designed to encourage partnered and small group learning, which is so critical to how we teach in school.
Finally, a curriculum that understands how ‘music speaks louder than words!’ It’s a powerful way to open paths of connection with each prayer. I especially like that students can reflect on intention and meaning through the music.
I learned the power of using music as a learning tool very early in my career. With current trends both in terms of pedagogy in general around teaching for multiple learning styles and attending to the very diverse learning needs of our students, a curriculum like this that is multi-modal and integrates music and kinesthetic, as well as a range of approaches to tackling language and meaning, is a welcome addition to the field, especially in the arena of prayer/b'nai mitzvah preparation!
The parents of our Hebrew in Harmony pilot group were very excited. They told me they didn’t have anything like this program when they went to religious school as kids.
I am so excited about this program. We cannot wait to start with it from 4th grade and up. Amazing, amazing, amazing. This is exactly what the new generation is all about. Thank you!
Hebrew in Harmony looks fantastic! I am amazed at the depth and breadth of the program and astonished by the attention to detail that must have been required to deliver it in its various modalities.
I am bursting with excitement, and my fourth- and fifth-grade teachers are very enthusiastic. I'm also thinking about moving myself into 6th grade so I can learn HIH from the inside out by teaching it.! I think this gift to the Jewish education world is going to be a real game changer.
