A HOLIDAY EVERY WEEK
Shabbat is a gift from God.
It is a day to enjoy the world God created.

During the week we are all busy. We don't have time to appreciate many wonderful things in God's world. But on Shabbat we can enjoy all God's creations--animals and insects, flowers and trees.

We celebrate Shabbat every week. How many times can you enjoy Shabbat in one year?

Have you ever looked at the pattern on a butterfly's wings? Both wings are exactly the same. What would you like to look at more closely on Shabbat?

Which Hebrew word means "peace"?

Shalom is the Hebrew word for "peace."
When we greet people on Shabbat we say,
Shabbat Shalom
It means, "May you have a peaceful Shabbat."
