HEBREW THROUGH THE YEAR
The word exodus means "going out."
It is a Greek word. In Hebrew, the Exodus is called
the "Going Out of Egypt." It is when God
"passed over" the houses of the Jews on
the night of the tenth plague.

At the Passover seder, we read from the Haggadah and
eat the unleavened bread, called matzah, and remove
it from the house anything that is hametz.

To fill your seder with song and celebration, plan ahead!
For example, study the Four Questions, prepare a song to
sing, make haroset, and donate tzedakah to those in need.
You can also help your family get the kitchen ready for
Passover. Turn to the Holiday Planner on page 8, and
record what you will do to prepare for Pesah.
