You probably know me, Jeremy Poisson, eMedia Editor at Behrman House, from my work on Shalom Uvrachah Interactive, the Hineni Interactive series, Ulpan Alef Interactive, and Explorer’s Bible 3D Adventure. I regularly answer technical questions about the CDs, including questions that go something like this: “My serial number doesn’t work; it won’t let me sign on to the CD. Can you help?” In most cases, the answer is that you are running a personal software firewall and it is blocking access to the online database that automatically keeps track of students’ progress. So, here’s how you can allow access to your CDs in spite of your firewall. These steps assume you use Norton Internet Security Personal Firewall, but this same process should work with any personal firewall. If you are on a large network running a hardware firewall, ask your system administrator for help.
- Place the CD (for example, Hineni 2 Interactive) into your CD player, then exit the application after it opens automatically.
- Open Norton Internet Security.
- Click on Settings.
- Click Personal Firewall and the Configure button.
- On the left side under Personal Firewall, click Program Control.
- Click the Add button.
- Use the Look in field and browse to Hin2CD [cd-drive-letter:] and click on Hin2CD, then click the Open button.
- Under your Personal Firewall: Program Control you will now see Hin2CD with the Access set to Block.
- Click the arrow down next to blocked and pick Allow.
- Restart Hin2CD and join the Hineni 2 online community.
