Question: Is my firewall affecting the functioning of my interactive CD?

Answer: Firewalls run inside what is called a "system tray" which is located at the bottom, right hand corner of your computer screen, usually next to the clock on Window's PC. The firewall can also be accessed through the "Windows Control Panel." To find out what security firewall your computer has run the mouse over the icons in the system tray (do not click on any of the icons; simply run the mouse over each). RIGHT click on the firewall icon. It should give the option to disable, if not, then it gives the option to open. Once it is open it is possible to then disable the firewall.
  • NOTE: Try to disable the firewall only temporarily. It is in your best interest to retain the security on the computer terminal.
  • NOTE: Most schools have hardware firewalls. If this is the case the system administrator might have to disable the firewall, as access to the firewall is typically restricted.
