Don't Laugh!
don't laugh!
GAME1:HA
How many: You'll need a minimum of three people to play this game, but it's best suited for large groups. Setup: Each player rests his or her head on the tummy of another person, forming one giant circle. How to play: The first player begins by saying "ha." The second player says, "ha ha"; the third player says, "ha ha ha," and so on, with each player adding another "ha." Each "ha" must be pronounced solemnly. How to win: All those who laugh are out and leave the circle, but once out, they can do anything to make the other players laugh. No touching allowed. The last person left straightfaced is the winner.
GAME:2 Can't Make Me Laugh
How many: You only need two players for this game, but it's more fun if a crowd watches. Setup: Two players stand face to face. How to play: The first player puts on a serious face, while the second player tries to make him/her laugh. The first player may not close his/her eyes, and the second player can do anything but touch his/her opponent. How to win: The first player wins if he/she can resist laughing for 3 minutes. The second player wins if he/she can make the first player laugh within that time.
GAME 3: Hilarious Handkerchief
How many: Three players, but it's a lot more fun with a large group. Setup: Players form a large circle around one person who holds a handkerchief. How to play: The player in the middle throws the handkerchief in the air and starts laughing. Everyone in the circle also laughs, until the handkerchief touches the floor. At that moment, there must be complete silence. How to win: Anyone who laughs after the handkerchief touches the ground is out. The last player left is the winner.
GAME 4: THUMPER
How many: Three players, but it's a lot more fun with a large group. Setup: Players form a circle. Each player chooses a particular sound and a motion; for example, one player says "cock-a-doodle-doo!" while flapping his/her arms. How to play: The first player begins by performing his/her own sound and motion. And then, he/she calls on another player by performing that player's sound and motion. The game continues at a rapid pace this way. A typical Thumper game can look and sound like this: Player 1: (Flaps arms.) "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" (Sucks thumb and closes eyes.) "Nighty-night." Player 2: (Sucks thumb and closes eyes.) "Nighty-night." (Turns imaginary steering wheel.) "Vroom, vroom!" Player 3: (Turns imaginary steering wheel.) "Vroom, vroom!" (Chews imaginary carrot.) "What's up, doc?" Player 4: (Chews imaginary carrot) "What's up, doc?" (Sucks thumb and closes eyes.) "Nighty-night." Player 2: (Sucks thumb and closes eyes.) "Nighty-night." (Flaps arms.) "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" How to win: There are several ways to be disqualified from this zany game:
  1. If any player laughs at any time, that player is out.
  2. A player is out if he/she hesitates to call someone else.
  3. A player is out if he/she calls on anyone who is already out.
