She is able to get by until she is eventually caught and sentenced to indentured servitude in America. Upon arrival in America, Molly is sold to a Jewish family in New York, and despite their kindness, Molly is determined to return to London. Yet, over the course of the novel, Molly learns a tremendous amount about belonging, trust, Judaism, and helping others, and through her adventures finds herself a new home and a new sense of self.
